Classroom Instruction
Training symposium participants were divided into groups, and attended specific, specialized classroom instruction before the hands-on training portion.
Instructors Brian Marron and Glen Kice, teamed up with Bret Russell II, to introduce and teach future training officers from the Puerto Vallarta fire department and surrounding departments. Our goal is not only educating the future fire department training officers to be able to instruct, but also help improve their fire departments by sharing their newly gained knowledge. The participants of the symposium will become part of our cadre and travel with us to teach other fire departments outside their region or state.
Dave Richter and Ryan Boersma instructed an outstanding basic Fire Apparatus Engineer course. They incorporated topics of daily vehicle checkouts, minor repair, pumping, hydraulics, defensive driving and a hands-on road course.
On the last day of the training symposium, all the students attended the introduction to wildland firefighting and safety class. Matt Watson and Brian Oliver delivered the training course.
